Save – Upgrade Homes 2026: the €20m grant round opening in September
A confirmed, funded grant call covering PV and battery storage is coming. Here is exactly what was announced, sourced, and what is still unconfirmed.

In May 2026, the Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry announced the 3rd Call of the «Save – Upgrade Homes» scheme («Εξοικονόμώ – Αναβαθμίζω στις Κατοικίες»), part of the wider THALIA 2021-2027 programme, co-funded by the EU and the Republic of Cyprus. Electronic applications open in September 2026.
What is actually confirmed
What the grant covers
The Minister listed the eligible works explicitly:
- Roof and wall insulation
- Window replacement
- Shading systems
- Heating and cooling upgrades (air conditioning, heat pumps)
- Solar water heating
- PV systems, with or without battery storage
- Fees for the qualified expert who assesses the property
Vulnerable households, mountain-area homes and refugee housing receive a 20% increase on top of the standard grant.
Who qualifies
- Individuals only — not companies
- An existing home, built before 1 January 2008, or with a planning application submitted before 21 December 2007
- An existing domestic-tariff EAC account in the applicant's own name
What we could not verify
Some figures circulating online mention a second, lower grant tier. The Minister's own statement, as reported, gives a single maximum of €32,000 «depending on investment type», without a confirmed second figure. We are not publishing an unverified number. When the official Scheme Guide is published, we will correct this if needed.
You do not have to wait for September
The Minister was explicit: eligible households can already contact a qualified expert for a site visit and an Energy Performance Certificate now, and start work before applications open if they choose.
Worth noting: the 2nd call budget was increased once demand outstripped the original amount. Earlier applicants have historically fared better.
