Why we install LFP batteries in Cyprus

Cyprus summers put batteries under real thermal stress. Here is why LFP chemistry with quality cells is our standard, and what to check before choosing.

Why we install LFP batteries in Cyprus

Battery chemistry matters more in Cyprus than in most European markets, because our installations face long, hot summers. We standardise on lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries using cells from established manufacturers such as CATL and EVE.

Why LFP

  • Thermal behaviour. LFP chemistry is more tolerant of high ambient temperatures than other common lithium chemistries, which matters in Cypriot conditions. No battery is immune to heat, which is why installation location and ventilation are part of our design.
  • Cycle life. Quality LFP cells are rated by their manufacturers for thousands of charge cycles, supporting long service life under daily cycling.
  • Proven cells. The cell inside the cabinet matters more than the brand on the outside. We specify the cell manufacturer in our proposals.

What to check before you buy

Ask any installer three questions: whose cells are inside, what the cycle-life rating and warranty terms are, and whether the battery management system supports the backup or expansion features you may want later. If the answers are vague, keep looking.

Where the battery lives matters

In Cyprus, the installation location can affect battery life as much as the chemistry. A battery in a shaded, ventilated utility room ages more slowly than the same unit on a west-facing wall that bakes every afternoon. During our site survey we identify a location that stays as cool as practical year-round, and we follow the manufacturer's clearance and ventilation requirements rather than squeezing the unit wherever it fits.

Sizing the battery honestly

A battery that is too small leaves evening consumption uncovered; one that is too large spends its life partially used while you pay for capacity you do not cycle. We size from your evening and night consumption, which we estimate from your bills and your routine, and we prefer modular systems that can grow if your needs change, for example when an EV arrives.

The bottom line

Chemistry, cells, location and sizing decide what a battery delivers over its life. The brand sticker is the least important part of the cabinet. Ask for all four in writing in any proposal you receive, including ours.

Frequently asked questions

Quality LFP cells are rated by their manufacturers for thousands of charge cycles, which supports a long service life under daily use. Real lifespan also depends on installation location and temperature.
LFP is among the more thermally stable lithium chemistries, which is one reason we use it in the Cyprus climate. No battery is risk-free, so correct installation, ventilation and a quality battery management system matter.
